DANCE & MOVEMENT WORKSHOPS FOR LIBRARIES & SCHOOLS

DANCING WITH WHALES! 1 hour $145
Level I: K-grade 2
Level II: grades 3 & 4
Level III: grades 5 & 6
Come and learn about whales! Sing whale songs and explore creative movement inside and outside a 17 foot long whale! Move like a wave to the sounds of real whales! Sample some seaweed! Make your own unique fluke to take home; and learn about helping to support a real whale!
Group Size: 15 max
LEAP INTO SPACE! 1 hour $145
Come and enjoy movement games such as Cross the Galaxy! and Lost Planet! Use solar lights, learn how to use a camera obscura and make a take-home Space Collage! Watch and hear the story “How Night Came to Be”; and listen to electronic music and become a planet, a sun or a moon!

MAKING MUSIC VISIBLE! 75 minutes $165 (includes a “Let’s Make A Song” children’s CD to take home)
Join us as we design and explore easy moves and shapes to go with a song we choose from the CD “Let’s Make A Song!” We can also select costumes and props to use! We may choose to share our theatrical creation at the end! (includes take-home CD created by The Diver Library)

MOVE LIKE A MONARCH! 1 hour $145
Come and move through the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly! We will make take-home collages and write a group poem or story about butterflies and flowers – Let’s fly!

SHADOWDANCE WORKSHOP 1 hour $145
Level I: K-grade 2
We will explore our shadows (on a scrim) through fun creative movement games and emergent literacy activities which promote creative self-expression.
SHADOW MOVEMENT THEATRE WORKSHOP 90 minutes $180
Level II: grades 3 & 4
Level III: grades 5 & 6
We will investigate the magical effects of light, color and shadow, and then use them to create a short work-in-progress with the option to share it during the last few minutes of the workshop.
DANCING TO STORIES (LITERACY AND MOVEMENT) 1 hour $145
Pre-K Level: ages 3 ½ – 5
Level I: K-grade 2
Children will use their imaginations to create dances to stories. Emergent literacy skills such as expressive gesture, language, predicting and sequencing, as well as social skills such as cooperation and taking turns are integral to this workshop.
MAKING AND MOVING TO MUSIC 1 hour $145
Pre-K Level: age 3 ½- 5
Level I: K- grade 2
Level II: grades 3 & 4
Children will have the opportunity to play traditional musical instruments and to make simple take-home instruments. Sounds will inspire our movements in games and other fun dance activities. Skills shared within this workshop include sorting and categorizing, self-expression, vocabulary enrichment, listening acuity and social cooperation.
INTERNATIONAL DANCES 1 hour $145
Level I: K-grade 2
We will listen to and move to music from three different cultures. We will look at pictures and short video clips of traditional dances from these cultures and investigate their similarities and differences. We will explore these different types of movements and learn a fun, simple circle dance.
MOVEMENT GAMES WITH SCIENCE AND NATURE 1 hour $145
Pre-K Level: age 3 ½- 5
Level I: K- grade 2
Level II: grades 3 & 4
We will explore the sounds and movements of a variety of natural phenomena such as aspects of the solar system, the plant and animal kingdoms, and water. We may move as orbiting planets and moons, growing plants, eagles, or ocean or even sound waves. We may search for the sound of a fellow tree frog or melt at the sound of a rain stick. Specific games depend on the age group; and children of all ages will use their imaginations to engage in these fun activities.
FAMILY GAMES DAY 75 minutes $160
Level I: age 4 ½ and up
Bring your family and play Box Box Secret Box, Shark!, Mystery Moves, Mirror Mirror, and Count to Ten and Look Again! These are cooperative, multi-age family games for all ages 4 1/2 and up .
